St. Helena Coon Joint Replacement Institute Joint Replacement Specialist – Hip and Knee
Dr. John Diana is a leading provider of joint replacement surgery of the hip and knee. Dr. Diana performs minimally invasive joint replacement surgery including the direct anterior hip replacement, Birmingham hip resurfacing, quadriceps-sparing total knee replacement, and partial knee replacement procedures. Dr. Diana is trained MAKO robotic surgeon and routinely performs robotic surgeries. MAKO robotic applications allow Dr. Diana to perform partial knee replacement, total knee replacement, and total hip replacement with robotic guidance providing enhanced and quantitative measurements not normally available with most standard techniques. Dr. Diana also uses computer navigation technology routinely for knee replacement surgeries. These procedures may reduce pain, restore mobility and promote a quick return to normal activities for patients suffering from osteoarthritis and other conditions.
Dr. Diana has significant experience performing these procedures, but also enjoys teaching and discussing new innovations with colleagues in his field. Dr. Diana has performed over 2500 hip replacement procedures, more than 1500 of which have been performed using the direct anterior approach. Dr. Diana has performed more than 4000 knee replacement procedures. Dr. Diana is an active teacher of these techniques to other surgeons and has lectured on various topics of joint replacement surgery in both the United States and Asia.
Dr. Diana is an active member of the American Association of Hip and Knee surgeons. President of Napa Valley Orthopaedic Medical Group, Dr. Diana has served as Chairman of Surgery at Queen of the Valley Hospital, and is serving as Chief of the Hip Division at the Coon Joint Replacement Institute at St. Helena Hospital.
An avid runner, Dr. Diana was a volunteer physician for the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials in 2012, and is a member of the USATF. He has also volunteered on medical teams in Guatemala and Kenya.
